Kristján Bjarnason was bornin N. Múlasýsla on May 29, 1887. He died on January 19, 1958 in the Lakes settlement (Vatnabyggð) in Saskatchewan.

Kristján came to the West in 1900 with his parents, Bjarni Árnason and Ástríður Sigurðardóttir, early settlers near Kristnes in the Lakes settlement (Vatnabyggð). María moved there in 1905 from N. Dakota with her parents, Kristján Ólafsson and Guðrún Þorláksdóttir. Kristján and María lived in Leslie in Vatnabyggð 1914-1929, in Winnipegosis, Manitoba 1929-1940, and in Foam Lake, Saskatchewan after that.
