Kristján Sigurðsson was born in 1845 in S. Þingeyjarsýsla. He died in Manitoba in 1924.
Spouse: 1) María Jónsdóttir b. 1836 in S. Þingeyjarsýsla, d. December 17, 1909. 2) Stefanía Stefánsdóttir b. February 27, 1854 in Dalasýsla.
Children: Halldóra Sigríður b. 1868, remained in Iceland. They took in Jónína Sigurveig Guðnadóttir as a foster.
Kristján and María came west to Winnipeg, Manitoba in 1888 and went on to the Argyle Settlement. They lived there a number of years then moved to Glenboro just before the turn of the century. Stefanía came west to Winnipeg in 1901. She was first in Keewatin, Ontario, then made her way to Winnipeg and later to the Swan River Valley (Álftárdalsbyggð). She moved to Glenboro in 1907. She made a fortune in real estate and was considered a high achiever.
