Kristjana Sigurgeirsdóttir was born on March 21, 1881 in Reykjahlíð in S. Þingeyjarsýsla. She died in Manitoba on December 18, 1958.

Kristjana came west to Manitoba with her father, Sigurgeir Pétursson, and María Jónsdóttir, his wife in 1893 and lived with them in the Argyle Settlement and after 1908 in the Siglunes Settlement on Lake Manitoba. Björn came west to Winnipeg, in the same year and on the same ship, with his parents, Þorlákur Jónasson and Kristrún Pétursdóttir. He lived with them in the Argyle Settlement until 1908, then moved north to Silver Bay where he bought land.
