They came west to Ontario, Canada in 1874 and spent the first winter in Kinmount. A year later, they moved west to New Iceland and persevered through their first winter in Gimli. They then moved north to Mikley and lived there until 1883 when they moved to the Fljót Settlement. Sesselja moved south to N. Dakota after Magnús died and lived there until 1897 when she returned to New Iceland.
