Magnús Jónatan Daníelsson was born in Gimli, Manitoba on November 30, 1903. His last name was Danielsson in the west.
Spouse: October 30, 1926 Eleanor Hill b. May 28, 1907 in Árborg. Her parents were of German descent and lived in Árborg.
Children: 1. Beatrice Maureen b. September 13, 1927 2. Blanche Viola b. November 8, 1928 3. Roderick Daniel b. September 3, 1932. It should be noted here that Beatrice was elected mayor of Riverton in New Iceland, in 1965.
Magnús was the son of Daníel Daníelsson and María Benjamínsdóttir, who came west in 1887. They lived at Brekka in the Árnes settlement. Magnús attended elementary school in Gimli from 1910-1915, then went to Winnipeg and learned auto repair at General Motors in the city from 1933-1936. He worked at that in New Iceland for a few years, but then became a mechanic on fishing boats on Lake Winnipeg.
