María Stefanía Sigurðardóttir was born in S. Þingeyjarsýsla on July 10, 1847. She died on June 3, 1924 in N. Dakota.
Spouse: 1873 Haraldur Þorláksson b. in S. Þingeyjarsýsla in 1847, d. in N. Dakota in 1915. He took the last name Thorlakson in the west.
Children: 1. Lovísa Björg b. September 21, 1875 2. Páll 3. Pálína 4. Ásta 5. Gunnar. They had five other children, all died before 1897.
Haraldur and María came west to Milwaukee, Wisconsin in 1872. They lived there a number of years before settling in the Shawano Settlement. They lived there until 1879 but then moved to N. Dakota. They took land in a depression below the hill where the village of Mountain stands today. The settlement that formed there was called Víkurbyggð.
