Rögnvaldur Sveinsson was born in S. Þingeyjarsýsla on July 16, 1879. He had the name Valdi Swainson in the west.
Spouse: Jóhanna Björnsdóttir b. November 3, 1876 in Strandarsýsla.
Children: 1. 1. Sveinn b. August 6, 1901 2. Þóra (Thora) b. January 10, 1903 3. Solveig (Solla) b. April 15, 1905 4. Björn (Barney) b. February 4, 1908 5. Veronika Ragnheiður b. 1910 (Heiða).
Rögnvaldur came west to Winnipeg, Manitoba with his parents and siblings in 1883. Jóhanna arrived there the same year with her parents, Björn Jósefsson and Þóra Guðmundsdóttir, and siblings. Rögnvaldur and Jóhanna began farming in Selkirk but moved west to the Lakes Settlement (Vatnabyggð) in Saskatchewan in 1905 and took land there. They later sold their land and moved to Saskatoon where they lived for some time. They then made their way to Vancouver, British Columbia.
