Sæmundur Eiríksson was born in S. Þingeyjarsýsla on June 14, 1833. He died on March 21, 1921 in N. Dakota.
Spouse: 1) 1856 Sigríður Jóhannesdóttir b. in S. Þingeyjarsýsla in 1833, d. 1882. 2) 1884 Elína Jónasdóttir b. August 1, 1839, d. July 15, 1922.
Children: With Sigríður: 1. Sigríður Ásta b. 1858 2. Jóhannes b. 1860 3. Eiríkur b. 1863 4. Jónína b. 1867 5. Sæmundur b. 1865 6. Jón b. 1873 7. Sigurjón b. 1875 8. Snjólaug b. 1878. With Elína: 1. Jón died young.
Sæmundur and Sigríður came west to Winnipeg, Manitoba in 1882. They moved south to the Garðar Settlement with their four youngest children, the others remained in Winnipeg with relatives. Elína came west to Winnipeg, Manitoba with her husband, Jón Folmer Hansson, and children in 1878. Jón died shortly after arriving there, but Elína took land south of Mountain, N. Dakota. She and Sæmundur lived there until 1918 than moved to Mountain. A year later, they moved in with Jóhannes, Sæmundur’s son in Hensel, N. Dakota, and lived there for the rest of their lives.
