Sigríður Gunnlaugsdóttir was born on May 14, 1843 in Eyjafjarðarsýsla. She died on October 28, 1937 in Manitoba. She took the last name Sigurdson in the west.

Children: 1. Benóní Stefánsson b. 1867 2. Kristín Aðalbjörg b. 1874, d. 1892 3. Sigurður Snorri b. 1877 4. Oddur Tryggvi b. 1879 5. Baldvin died as a newborn in Iceland 6. Stefán b. in Garðar on August 5, 1884. He was the son of Grímur Einarsson.
Sigríður came west to Winnipeg, Manitoba with four children in 1883 and moved on to the Garðar Settlement in N. Dakota. There she bought land with her eldest son Benóní who managed most of it. Later she gave him the land but lived with him and his family until 1900, then moved to the Brown Settlement in Manitoba where her sons Sigurður Snorri and Oddur Tryggvi had moved the year before. Sigríður lost her sight in 1910 and lived with her son Stefán who by then had also moved to Brown.
