Sigríður came west across the ocean in 1890 and probably moved to Manitoba. Sigtryggur, a married man, came to Canada in 1888 with his brothers Gunnar and Kristján. They all settled in the Alberta colony. Sigtryggur lived in Alberta 1889-1892, then moved east to the Argyle Settlement in Manitoba where he stayed until 1899. Then he returned west to Alberta, to his land near the Tindastól post office and lived there ever after. Information is missing about the fate of his first wife in the west and where he met Sigríður Jóhannsdóttir.
