Sigþrúður Guðríður Guðbrandsdóttir was born on October 16, 1858 in Gullbringusýsla. She died in Winnipeg on July 14, 1943.

Ólafur came west with Páll Þorláksson to Wisconsin in the United States in 1872. He returned to Iceland a year later upon hearing of his father’s death. He came west again by sea, newly married, in 1876 and now to New Iceland. From there their path in 1878 was to land south of the Tunguá (Tongue) River in N. Dakota, where they lived until 1886 when they moved to the Þingvalla settlement in Saskatchewan. In 1898 they went from there to Glenboro, Manitoba and lived there for a while but in 1904 they moved to Big Point. In 1940 they were in Winnipeg.
