Sigurbjörg Sigbjörnsdóttir was born on March 8, 1877 in N. Múlasýsla. She died in Lyon County in Minnesota on July 10, 1905.
Spouse: February 6, 1901 Þórður Þórðarson b. in Húnavatnssýsla in 1865, d. in Minneota on August 2, 1939. He was known as Dr. Thordur Thordarson in the west.
Children: 1. Vilhelm b. December 13, 1901 2. María Aðalbjörg b. August 6, 1903 3. Sigurbjörg b. June 28, 1905.
Sigurbjörg came west across the ocean with her parents, Sigbjörn Ásbjörnsson and Stefanía Magnúsdóttir. They settled in Selkirk. Sigurbjörg went south to Minnesota to study just before the turn of the century. Þórður came west in 1887 after graduating from the Latin School in Reykjavík. He studied at Cornell University, and in 1893-97 he studied medicine in Chicago. He moved to Minneota, Minnesota and practiced medicine until his death. He edited the Vínland newspaper in Minneota 1902-1906 along with his medical work.
