Sigurður Sigurðsson was born in Rangárvallasýsla on December 11, 1886. He took the last name Thordarson in the west.
Unmarried and childless
Sigurður was the son of Sigurður Þórðarson and Guðríður Eiríksdóttir. His father was a shoemaker and Sigurður followed in his footsteps. In 1909 he moved west to Winnipeg and lived there until 1913. He then went west to Blaine, Washington State and from there to Seattle in 1915. He lived there thereafter and engaged in shoemaking and running a shop. He was in the US Army in 1918-19. Sigurður took part in the social affairs of his country, worked in the Hallgrím congregation in the city and the Icelandic patriotic club in the West.
