Siggeir came west to Canada in 1889, traveling together with his father, Jóhann Halldórsson, and brother Theodór. His mother Halldóra Gunnarsdóttir came west the year before as did his other brothers, Gunnar, Sigtryggur, and Jóhann. Ingibjörg came west in 1888 and probably like Siggeir went straight to Alberta. He took land in the Icelandic colony and always lived there like his brothers.
