Skúli emigrated west in 1883 with his parents, Þorkell Guðmundsson and Anna Sigríður Skúladóttir. They settled in Lincoln County in Minnesota and Skúli lived there the rest of his life. Rósamunda came west in 1879 with her father, Guðmundur Guðmundsson, and his wife, Rósa Einarsdóttir, and siblings. They also settled in Lincoln County, Minnesota.
