Snjólfur Eiríksson was born in E. Skaftafellssýsla in 1865. He died in Blaine, Washington in a railway accident in 1917.

They came west by sea in 1903 and settled in Roseau County in Minnesota and intended to take land there. Snjólfur was not in good health at the time, and it was clear that settlement would be too much for him. They moved from there to Piney, Manitoba and persevered for five years, then gave up on the plains and moved west to the Pacific Ocean in 1909. The mild climate soon had a good effect on Snjólfur, he recovered and recovered well. He built a house in Blaine, Washington and worked on the railroad there.
