Stefán Eyjólfsson was born in Nordur-Mulasysla December 25, 1849. Died in Gardar Settlement in N. Dakota in 1933.

Stefan emigrated from Iceland June 8, 1874 to Ontario in Canada. From there he moved to Milwaukee in Wisconsin the same summer and joined the first group to settle in New Iceland in the fall of 1875. He left the settlement in 1880 and moved to Pembina in N. Dakota. Sold his land there in 1883 and moved to the Gardar settlement.
