Þórarinn Jónsson was born at Skaftártungu in W. Skaftafellssýsla in 1874. Spous: 1905 Guðrún Jónsdóttir from Árnessýsla. Þórarinn came west from Reykjavík in 1900 and worked for Búi Jónsson in fishing in the winters of the first years, but in the summer he lived in Winnipeg. He eventually moved to Winnipegosis.
