Kristín Símonardóttir was born in Húnavatnssysla in 1842. Unmarried and childless. In 1890 she was a housekeeper at Kollafoss in Húnavatnssýsla and where Jón Guðmundsson was the head of the house, a new widower. They moved west to Manitoba in 1901 and settled in the Geysir Settlement on land called Oddi. Kristín was Jón’s maid until he died in 1921. …
